The Society for Transplant Social Workers celebrated its 25th anniversary in Atlanta, Georgia in October, 2010.  The first conference was held in New York City in 1986 with fifteen heart transplant social workers in attendance.  Participation has grown in both number and scope over the years.  Over 180 social workers came to Atlanta and all solid organs were represented.

Sponsorship of our conference began in the late 1980's, and it has also grown.  Ongoing financial support of the conference has allowed the Society to continue to hold this annual educational and networking event.  Each year we also receive support from local sponsors in the community where the conference is being held, such as community home health agencies, transportation companies and rehabilitation facilities.

Sponsors tell us that the conference offers an excellent opportunity to meet social workers from many transplant programs, both in the United States and internationally.  Social workers appreciate learning about services these sponsors provide.  Interactions are plentiful.  Sponsors typically set up information booths the night before the meeting begins and join our members at a welcome reception.  Sponsors’ information tables are accessible throughout the conference, with opportunities to meet before educational sessions start each day and during breaks.  We have a gala reception each year that promotes networking in a relaxed atmosphere.

Despite the Society's growth, the conference continues to be a comfortable venue for transplant professionals to talk and connect.  We would welcome your support!
